Quilter’s Dilemma?

While I was working on my Pirate King and Gone to the Dogs quilt today I snuck a peak at my latest Australian Quilters Companion magazine and was reminded that the 2012 Under 35s Quilt Competition closes in September. So I now have a dilemma…

As you may know from an earlier post, I’m working on 4 quilts in parallel at the moment. I’m madly trying to get them finished as it’s about 2 quilts to many for me to comfortably have underway. Only problem now is that I also recently bought much of Leesa Chandler’s Under the Australian Sun fabric collection as I loved the designs. These beautiful

Australian flowers would make a fabulous quilt for the competition as the theme is “How Does Your Garden Grow?”.

So what am I to do – finish the four quilts underway? Start another one anyway? Stop working and just quilt maybe??

So as I sit here tonight to pin the binding on the Pirate King quilt (yes I pin it then sew by machine – hand sewing is not for me), I’ll ponder the quandary borrowed from Mr Shakespeare… to enter or not to enter, that is the question.

About bertcollections

I began quilting, with the help of some friends, in 2005, and have been quilting ever since. In that time, I’ve completed several projects in a variety of styles and colour combinations. My approach to quilting generally doesn’t involve using a particular pattern. I tend to have a concept I want to bring to life, or find a fabric on sale somewhere that looks like it could be turned into something fun. As the photos in the 'Introductions' post show, my quilts cross a range of styles, but generally use some strong colours and shapes.

One Response to Quilter’s Dilemma?

I say start another one. Unless you have some particular deadlines for the ones you are already working on. You could enter one of the ones you are currently working on, but they probably won’t fit the theme as well as one you start from scratch.
