PK8 – Pirate King finds a New Home

It’s done.

I’ve finished the Pirate King quilt.

I stayed up to 10pm on Friday sewing and then finished the quilting on Saturday afternoon about 2pm (just before my friends arrived), cut the threads while we were watching a movie in the afternoon and then presented the present later that evening. A close shave but I made it ;-).

Now the ‘special blanket’ is on its way home with its new family.

I’m really pleased with how the finished product looked – nearly as happy as AK looks with in this photo.

It was very cute with its new family playing counting games on it last night, jumping from block to block as they counted together. Hopefully this means it’ll be a successful present – loved and played and washed for years to come.

Now it feels strange to not have a pile of quilts-in-progress on the bed in the spare room. Ah well, I’ll soon fix that.

Happy adventrues on the high seas to you all. Arrrrr.

About bertcollections

I began quilting, with the help of some friends, in 2005, and have been quilting ever since. In that time, I’ve completed several projects in a variety of styles and colour combinations. My approach to quilting generally doesn’t involve using a particular pattern. I tend to have a concept I want to bring to life, or find a fabric on sale somewhere that looks like it could be turned into something fun. As the photos in the 'Introductions' post show, my quilts cross a range of styles, but generally use some strong colours and shapes.

What a wonderful gift! I pretty much look like your first picture too after finishing a quilt.
