K-Frog: This is K-Frog, reporting for SS news…in the past few weeks, Bert has been sighted in cities around Australia carrying her hexagon piecing kit on planes, trains and automobiles. At the same time, BertCollections posts have gone very quiet. Does this mean that Bert has stopped quilting? Concerned followers are starting to ask, has she had a breakdown? Has she gone off quilting all together?
Today, we have an exclusive interview with Bert at her secret hideaway. Bert, welcome to SS News.
Bert: Thanks K. It’s good to talk to you.
K-Frog: Bert, there have been sightings of you in Canberra and around Melbourne but you have been uncharacteristically silent on the blogosphere. Tell us what’s been happening.
Bert: Well, you know K, my work has been exciting over the last few months. I have some important projects that have needed lots of attention. At the same time, we’ve gone through spring and early summer at The Hideaway. Then there was the ramp up for Christmas. When my fabric hadn’t arrived a week before I had to give gifts, I had to go into emergency back up mode.
K-Frog: How did you deal with this emergency?
Bert: I had to raid my fabric stash for fabrics to get as many fabric boxes made as I could. I ran out of time and fabric so while many people did receive their gifts in fabric baskets, sadly some people only got gift bags instead.
K-Frog: How did the gift-baggers cope?
Bert: Honestly, no-one seemed to notice, but you know, it’s disappointing when you are that organized and then you miss out at the last minute. The good thing is though, because we’ve now done our Christmas gifting, I’m going to have a nice quiet break at The Hideaway.
K-Frog: So Bert, does that mean there’ll be more posting on the blog?
Bert: Yes. Yes it does. I have loads of sewing to do and plenty of catching up on the blog. It looks like the weather is going to be hot so I’ll have a good reason to stay inside for a couple of days too.
K-Frog: Well Bert, it’s good to hear that you’re back. We were starting to worry. Thanks for your time and have a good break.
Bert: Thanks K, and happy holidays to you and the followers out there.
