Virtual Quilt Show – Evolution of Quilting at Mandelson’s, Goulburn NSW

Today you can take a relaxing virtual wander through the ‘Evolution of Quilting’ exhibition via the video I’ve just added. Evolution of Quilting was a great exhibition. In addition to having some truly awesome quilts, the early quilts also reassured those of us just starting out or with less experience that everyone has a first quilt and starts from humble beginnings and that with persistence great things can be possible.

There are many styles of quilts in the exhibition, from traditional to modern. If you are patient you’re sure to see some that impress you. The artists featured are all Australian, award winning quilters: Jenny Bowker, Helen Gray, Ann Haddad, Beth Miller, Margaret Rolfe, Carolyn Sullivan and Judy Turner.

And, watch out for the local landmark – the Big Merino – which is specially decked out for the Goulburn festival in it’s best and brightest scarf ! Goulburn has been a wool growing area since settlement in the 1800s with a proud textile heritage.

Sit back, relax and enjoy the eye candy 🙂

Bert

PS: Thanks to the gals who I went to the exhibition with – what a great day!

About bertcollections

I began quilting, with the help of some friends, in 2005, and have been quilting ever since. In that time, I’ve completed several projects in a variety of styles and colour combinations. My approach to quilting generally doesn’t involve using a particular pattern. I tend to have a concept I want to bring to life, or find a fabric on sale somewhere that looks like it could be turned into something fun. As the photos in the 'Introductions' post show, my quilts cross a range of styles, but generally use some strong colours and shapes.
