GG9 – Hexies on Holiday?

20130625-094713.jpgI’ve been away on holiday for the last week, relaxing in a cabin in the bush. Everybody say a relaxing “ahhhhhhh”. So I have been eating, drinking and being chilled out with hubby. That doesn’t mean I did nothing at all…I knitted a half a scarf (must be ruthie’s subliminal brainwashing) and paper pieced a bunch of hexagons.

The hexagon progress was a little slower than planned – I discovered that you don’t get an iron in a cabin in the woods and that I must be getting fussy because I wouldn’t sew my Granny’s Garden hexagons into flowers without ironing them first. The wombatquilts scraps came on holidays with me for the hexagons so it was an extra treat to hunt through a treasure trove of 2 ½” squares as I enjoyed the peace and quiet.

It now seems a little odd that I’m typing this in the lounge at an airport – it seems I’m straight back into the hustle and bustle except that I booked the dignified morning flight and the drive in was less foggy than expected so I have a little while to have a cuppa and update my blog posts.

Have a calm and satisfying week.

About bertcollections

I began quilting, with the help of some friends, in 2005, and have been quilting ever since. In that time, I’ve completed several projects in a variety of styles and colour combinations. My approach to quilting generally doesn’t involve using a particular pattern. I tend to have a concept I want to bring to life, or find a fabric on sale somewhere that looks like it could be turned into something fun. As the photos in the 'Introductions' post show, my quilts cross a range of styles, but generally use some strong colours and shapes.
